  23. External hardware is supported via two entities:
  24. - a pre-driver (embedded in AL16)
  25. - an external driver (this one)
  26.  
  27. For each board a specific pre-driver must exists.
  28. For each pre-driver one or more external drivers may exist (but
  29. only can be used during an AL16 session).
  30.  
  31. The pre-driver has limited knowledge of the board's hardware.
  32. It doesn't know how to 'program' the board but it knows which
  33. kind of 'data' the board can easily manage.
  34. The pre-driver uses the AL16 DSP tools to map AL16 audio tracks
  35. to board-friendly streams regarding samplepoint formats, number
  36. of physical D/A converters, signal clocks,...
  37.  
  38. A ToccataOut pre-driver is available in AL16. It requires an
  39. external ToccataOut driver to work with.

  42. --- How to use this ---
  43.  
  44. - Set the AL16 tooltype OUT_DRIVER to ToccataOut.
  45. - Put the ToccataOut driver into AL16's Drivers directory
  46.   to allow AL16 to automatically run it
  47. - Run AL16 and use any playback function you like.
  48. - Quit AL16 to quit the driver.
  49.  
  50. The driver's executable name must be 'ToccataOut'.
